Jesus Died For You
The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus were foretold many hundreds of years before He was born, by the prophet Isaiah. In fact, the brutal beating and torcher that He received were depicted in chapter 53 of the book of Isaiah.
Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes, we are healed.
We are told that even while Jesus is going through this brutal ordeal those that looked on hid their faces from Him and despised Him thinking that He was being punished by God. Can you imagine how He must have felt, He was making the ultimate sacrifice for them and they despised and hated Him.
Yet all the time He was bearing their sins, our sins, our wickedness, sickness and diseases. Jesus was beaten beyond recognition His body was mutilated and He was subjected to the most horrifying slow death on the cross while enduring immense pain, and He did that for you and me. Because of the unconditional love that God has for us Jesus was subjected to all this.
We like to say that the Jews or the Romans caused this suffering to happen to Jesus but that’s not actually correct. The bible says in Isaiah 53:10 that “it pleased the Lord to bruise Him”. It was God that allowed it to happen, without the consent of the Lord no one would have been able to lay a finger on Jesus, but because God loves us so much He allowed it so that we might have a way of escaping the penalty for our own wrongdoing and obtain Salvation through the blood of Jesus.
It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or who you are, you too can have all your sins washed away. You can become a new person and secure your place in heaven.
Many people feel that they haven’t committed any major sins and believe that because they’re a “good person” they will make it to heaven automatically, well the bible teaches us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that we are actually born with a sinful nature. Until the blood of Jesus is applied to your life and you are “born again” you will not be able to enter heaven. That’s not me that’s saying that it is what Jesus says in the gospel of John Chapter 3 verse 5
